Operators often ask why we decline assessments for single units below 0.05 PH/s. The threshold is economic and physical, not arbitrary.

Power contract bands

Moderate-scale Korean leases frequently cap total kilowatts between 50 and 200. A single 0.05 PH/s ASIC may draw 2–3 kW continuous. Eight units already stress a 20 kW allocation before cooling fans and pumps.

Below 0.05 PH/s, operators can sometimes run on residual residential or light commercial circuits with portable cooling. Our assessment tools—breaker logging, rack thermal mapping—assume row density that smaller units do not create.

Rack row mathematics

A standard 600 mm rack position at moderate scale holds one high-output unit or two mid units. At 0.05 PH/s nameplate, one position justifies cable management, fire clearance documentation, and intake area calculations.

Spreading the same aggregate hash across many small units multiplies failure points: more fans, more power supplies, more network drops.

When to reassess the floor

GPU frames that aggregate above 0.05 PH/s per bay fall within our scope even if individual cards are smaller. The bay is the unit of concern.

Practical next step

If you are sizing a first dedicated row, map nameplate hash per rack position before ordering. If the row total exceeds 0.4 PH/s with units under 0.05 PH/s each, a layout review may still help—but per-unit assessment focus shifts to bay-level logging.
